Diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Argentina were established in 1962. The Embassy of the Argentina Republic in New Delhi is concurrently accredited to Sri Lanka and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brasilia is concurrently accredited to Argentina.
As members of G15 and the G77, Sri Lanka and Argentina share common views on various international matters and cooperate with each other at multilateral fora, including the United Nations.
Ambassador Musthafa Mohamed Jaffeer submitted his open copies of credentials to His Excellency Jorge Faurie, Foreign Minister of Argentina on March 13th 2019 thus effectively accrediting him to Buenos Aires.
