Sri Lanka established diplomatic relations with the Republic of Suriname on 16 th November 2012. The Government of Suriname has concurrently accredited its Ambassador in New Delhi to Sri Lanka and the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Brazil is concurrently accredited to the Government of Suriname.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Brazil, Mr. Musthafa Mohamed Jaffeer presented credentials to the President of the Republic of Suriname, His Excellency Desiré Delano Bouterse, accrediting the former as Sri Lanka’s envoy to the Republic of Suriname with resident in Brasília, Brazil at the Presidential Palace in Paramaribo, Suriname at a solemn ceremony held on 12 December 2018.
