Sri Lanka and Guyana established formal diplomatic relations on 14 th July 1974. Since then the two countries have cooperated with each other at multilateral fora including the United Nations on matters of mutual interest.
The non-resident Ambassador of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana in New Delhi, India is concurrently accredited to Sri Lanka while concurrence for the concurrent accreditation of the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Brazil to the Government of Guyana is pending.
