Media/Journalist Visa

  • Online ETA Visa facility is not available for media personnel, i.e. Journalists, television news/film crews who intend to visit Sri Lanka for under mentioned news purporting purposes.
    • To participate in Media/Journalist conferences, workshops or seminars etc.,
    • To engage in Meetings, Seminars, Conferences etc., with Political parties and/or groups;
    • To engage in the activities carried out by the NGO or INGO.
  • Accordingly, prior approval of the relevant authorities of the Government of Sri Lanka must be obtained by those who intend to engage in above activities in Sri Lanka.
  • Journalists of printed or electronic media including television news or documentary news or camera crews who intend to visit Sri Lanka can submit their visa application through the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brasilia under the Business ETA category for the intended purposes.
  • Application for Media/Journalist Visa must be submitted along with the following documents and the prescribed visa fee.
    • Duly completed ETA Business Visa application form
    • Copy of the bio-data/photo page of the passport with at least six (6) months validity from the date of arrival in Sri Lanka
    • 2 recent colour photographs with light blue or white background in size 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm (Forehead & both ears should be exposed) taken within last 6 months
    • Copy of the return air ticket
    • Details of the accommodation in Sri Lanka (hotel reservation, contacts etc.)
    • Letter of Invitation from the Sri Lankan host/partner company/personal and contact details of the local host
    • Carnet for the media equipment taken into Sri Lanka
    • Business ETA processing fee
