- Sri Lankan nationals living in Brazil or other countries in South American continent can apply for a a new Sri Lankan ordinary passport through the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brasilia, Brazil from the Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka under the following circumstances.
- Expiry of 10 years validity of the passport from the date of issue
- Valid passport in which all pages are exhausted or damaged
- Valid passport which is lost or stolen

- Passport application Form K 35 A
- Original passport or a clear copy of the passport
- Original birth certificate
- National identification card (NIC) or driving licence (DL)
- 3 photographs
- Valid visa card or permanent resident card
- Citizenship confirmation/certificate
- Prescribed passport fee
