Tourist Visa

  • Foreign nationals visiting Sri Lanka for a short period is required to apply visa through a web based visa system known as the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) at eta.gov.lk, operated by the Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka.
  • The ETA for Tourist purpose with double entry for 30 (thirty) days can be applied if the travelling is for one or several of the following purposes:
    • Sightseeing, holidaying, excursions and relaxation
    • Visiting friends and relatives
    • Medical treatments including Ayurvedic treatments and yoga
    • Participate in sporting events, competitions and activities relating to cultural performance
  • If citizens of Brazil or other South American countries who are unable to submit the online visa application due to technical or other reasons, the tourist visa can be applied through the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brasilia.
  • Required documents for applying tourist visa
    • Duly filled ETA Tourist Visa Application Form
    • Two (2) recent passport-size colour photographs with light blue or white background in size 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm (Forehead & both ears should be exposed)
    • Copy of the return air ticket and travel itinerary
    • Proof of accommodation (Hotel reservation/s or local address and contacts in Sri Lanka)
    • Valid passport (at least six months beyond the date of entry into Sri Lanka)
    • Applicant’s local contact details (contact numbers, E-mail & postal address, CPF details)
    • Tourist ETA processing fee
  • Applicant should deposit the visa fee in the official Bank Account of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brasilia and the receipt of the bank transfer of the visa fee should be emailed along with the visa For details about the Embassy Bank Account, please contact slemb.brasilia@mfa.gov.lk.
  • Online applicants are warned to be cautious about fraudulent online websites which pretends to be the official website of the Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka which charge exorbitant amount for the issuance of Tourist ETA.
