Bilateral Agreements

Sri Lanka has further solidified its bilateral relations and cooperation with Brazil having signed the following bilateral Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs):

  • Basic Agreement on Technical Cooperation between the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, signed on 16/09/2008.
  • Memorandum of Understanding between the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) and the Chamber for Promotion and Economic Development of the BRICS Countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa chamber (BRICS-PED), signed on 16/04/2010.
  • Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of External Affairs of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of External Relations of the Federative Republic of Brazil for the Establishment of a Mechanism for Political Consultations, signed on 07/03/2011.
  • Agreement on the Exemption of Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic, Official or Service Passports, signed on 07/03/2011.
  • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa Agropecuária (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation) – EMBRAPA and the Department of Agriculture (DOA) of Sri Lanka, signed on 15/02/2012.
  • Agreement between the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Federative Republic of Brazil on Exemption of Visa Requirements for Holders of Diplomatic, Official or Service Passports, which was signed on 07.03.2011 and entered into force from 17/02/2012.
  • Agreement between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Brazil on the Performance of Remunerated Activities by Dependents of Diplomatic, Consular, Administrative, Military and Technical Staff, signed on 08/02/2013.
  • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Aeronautical Authorities of the Federative Republic of Brazil and of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, signed on 08/08/2014.
